Sunlight and Shadows

November 11th 12th Kraft Daze, Maddington WA Australia

2 days with 16 ladies in Perth. We had a lot of beginners on this course and they chose to paint and embroider the picture I demonstrated, hence several versions of the same image! A new way of running a course for me but they certainly brought their own colour pallette and interpretation to each one.

The Garden in Paint and Stitch

In response to the colours, textures and form of the Chelsea Physic Garden students painted a range of impressionist style silk backgrounds. We progressed to a range of free machine stitch techniques for the colour and detail of the flowers. The garden was an inspiration! We had a wonderful 2 day course.

Crashing Waves and Sea Spray

September 2nd 3rd Frolesworth

Inspired by dramatic coastlines with the splash and spray of waves crashing against the rocks. Using paint and stitch we created the effects of smooth, craggy or glistening wet rocks and the movement and texture of sea spray.

Etched in Frost: A Winter Scene

August 7th to 9th 2017. The Garden Studio Oswestry

A landscape transformed by frost and ice was the inspiration for this course. Students worked from photographs and used paint and embroidery techniques to create the effects of frost and on landscapes and foliage. With a limited palette and the elements etched in frost the imagery is dramatic.
